Hi! I have an idea for a hoe-down show order. Before I start editing songs, let me know if you have any objections or suggestions for different material. If not, I’ll start to shorten the songs and create vocal practice tracks, instrumental tracks, etc. so we can start right away. 8 weeks of rehearsals will fly by!! Here are my thoughts:
1. Star Spangled Banner- whole school song plus audience participation
**fiddlers**, maybe Carrie?
2. “Same Boat” by Zac Brown band- kindergarten dance/song with older students singing into mics
3. “My Maria” by Brooks and Dunn- 1st-grade dance/song with older students singing into mics
4. “Happy Anywhere” by Blake Shelton- small group song (maybe from 2nd and 3rd grade)
5. “Fishin in the Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band- 2nd and 3rd-grade dance and maybe song
6. “Crowded Table” by Marren Morris- small group song (probably from 4th-6th) *I would speed it up a little so it doesn’t drag on, but it’s a really nice song
7. “Wild Hearts” by Keith Urban- 4th, 5th, 6th dance, and maybe song
8. “Ok corral” our traditional superstars/hotshots dance
9. “Don’t go yet” by Camila Cabello-special hot shots of pop/hip hop dance
10. “Meet in the middle” by Diamond Rio- whole school song
11. “Forever Young”, the upbeat version by bob Dylan- whole school song
12. “Down at the twist and shout” our traditional audience participation finale song

Fifty nifty stars in the flag that billows so beautif'ly in the breeze.

(Chorus)
Saturday night and the moon is out I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
1. Well I never have wandered down to New Orleans
Never have drifted down a bayou stream
But I heard that music on the radio
And I swore some day I was gonna go
Down Highway 10 past Lafayette
To Baton Rouge and I won't forget
To send you a card with my regrets
'Cause I'm never gonna come back home

Band Break
2. They got a alligator stew and a crawfish pie
A golf storm blowin' into town tonight
Livin on the delta's quite a show
They got hurricane parties every time it blows
And here up north it's a cold cold rain
And there ain't no cure for my blues today
Except when the paper says: Beausoleil is coming into town
Baby let's go down
- - - Chorus - - -
3. Bring your mama, bring your papa, bring your sister too
They got lots of music and lots of room
When they play you a waltz from 1910
You gonna feel a little bit young again
Well you learned to dance with your rock'n'roll
You learned to swing with a do-si-do
But you learn to love at the fais-so-do
When you hear a little Jolie Blon
- - - Chorus - - -
